As men grow older they start to have concerns about their sexual health. What conditions will develop that will prevent them from having a fulfilling sex life? What will happen to their marriage if they are suddenly unable to perform in the bedroom? There are quite a few sexual problems that a man could possibly face as he grows older.

The thing about sexual problems in men is that it not only affects the man. It will affect the women in the relationship also. The tension that may be created from an unsatisfying sex life can be devastating to a relationship unless both parties learn to work through this problem.

The three most common sexual disorders in men are erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders and inhibited sexual desire disorder. These problems may occur with age or they may occur because of underlying health conditions.

There are three type of ejaculation disorders. The first type is premature ejaculation. This refers to ejaculation that occurs right before or right after penetration.

The second type of ejaculation disorder is inhibited ejaculation. This occurs when ejaculation is very slow to occur.

The third type of ejaculation disorder is called retrograde ejaculation. At the time of orgasm, the ejaculate is forced backwards into the bladder and not through the urethra and out the end of the penis.

The cause for premature and inhibited ejaculation can be a lack of attraction for your partner. Other causes may include past traumatic events or psychological disorders such as a strict religious background that views sex as a sinful activity.

Premature ejaculation may also occur due to nervousness. Certain medication, such as anti-depressants, can effect ejaculation also.

Retrograde ejaculation is common in men with diabetes. Some diabetes suffer from diabetic neuropathy which causes nerve damage to the bladder and bladder neck. This will allow the ejaculate to flow back into the bladder instead of out through the penis. This type of ejaculation disorder does not need to be treated unless it impairs fertility.

Erectile dysfunction is another common cause of sexual problems in men. Erectile dysfunction is simply the inability to achieve or maintain an erection. The causes of erectile dysfunction are many. These causes include diseases that can affect blood flow, certain types of nerve disorders, depression, specific medications and others. The good news is that most causes of erectile dysfunction can now be treated.

Inhibited sexual desire is simply the loss of an interest in sex. This can be the result of physical or psychological factors. Anxiety and depression, certain medical conditions and low testosterone levels are all contributing factors to inhibited sexual desire.

If you are concerned about your sexual health and are starting to exhibit some problems, it is a good idea to see your doctor. Be honest and open with your doctor about your problems. The more information your doctor has about your sex life, the easier it will be for him to pinpoint the cause of your sexual problems.
