Actually I am being a bit facetious here, but I thought I would include this little snippet of wisdom as I find it a bit amusing.
In a new study published in the Lancet, 2007; 369:721-3, the researchers ‘discovered’ a remarkable thing… There is now proof that the anecdotal evidence over the last 100,000 years is actually true!
They found in this study that Breastfeeding is a great way of calming the baby if it is stressed or in pain!
Wow. That’s good! At least it is official now!
Did you know that even quite recently (1987) that officially Doctors still thought that new born babies didn’t feel pain? This was confirmed in the New England Journal of Medicine. (Volume 317; pages 1321 – 29) This is why they were often operated on without the benefit of analgesics.
Since then mainstream medicine has discovered that new born babies do feel pain.
