Green-lipped mussel is sometimes promoted as being the most potent natural anti-inflammatory nutrient available. A new study from researchers at Australia’s RMIT University have found that the anti-inflammatory properties of the commercially extracted green-lipped mussel to be sufficiently potent to enable them to be a viable alternative to the conventional [non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs] NSAIDs and fish oil treatment in the relief of the symptoms of arthritis. The mussels are all grown in the Marlborough Sounds in the South Island of New Zealand.
