You should also take the caffeinated beverages and the sodas off of your list. Alcohol and spicy foods will cause problems for many people with acid reflux. Of course, not all of these foods will cause you problems, but when you suffer from acid reflux, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Pay particular attention to how you feel after you eat and figure out what you can and cannot safely eat.
Watch how you eat:
Another very important aspect of eating for all acid reflux sufferers is to watch how you eat. When you eat on the go or grab and run, you are more likely to have an attack of acid reflux. Your body needs the time to digest. Try to avoid eating on the go and try to eat several smaller meals rather than a couple of very large ones.
Don’t lie down:
Next on the list: try to avoid lying down after you eat. You should sit up for at least three hours after a meal. This will help keep the stomach acids where it belongs. When you slump or go to bed after you eat, you are inviting the stomach acids to creep up in your esophagus. You cannot digest correctly unless you are sitting up.
