Essential oils evaporate at varying degrees. The oils which evaporate the fastest are
eucalyptus
and orange.
The oils which evaporate the slowest are
patchouli
and
sandalwood
. Between these two extremes are other essential oils which evaporate at varying speeds.
These scales of evaporation have been divided into three sections:

heaviest oils, evaporate slowly |
When you create an essential oil blend, you should have a combination of the three notes. It is very important to use a good balance when creating oil blends.
When you first smell a blend of oils or a perfume, the scent you first become aware will be that of the TOP NOTE.
The BASE NOTES are utilized to hold back the oils which evaporate more quickly as well as to make the scent or aroma last as long as possible.
