Benefits, Indications:
Rose oil
stimulates the skin, while moisturizing and hydrating. It boosts all skin types and is particularly beneficial for dry, mature, inflamed and sensitive skin. It helps to reduce skin redness, fight inflammation, and its astringent properties act as a general skin tonic
. Rose is also one of the best oils for treating female reproductive problems, premenstrual tension,
menopausal
symptoms and irregular periods. It is also beneficial for the physical heart and the respiratory and digestive systems, and can help with headaches and
migraines
and is reputed to have
aphrodisiac
properties.
It also has a profound effect on the emotional level, and is a gentle antidepressant oil. Patricia Davis in Aromatherapy: an A-Z (Random House, UK, 2004) recommends it especially for women who are feeling sad or tense, or suffering from grief.
Chemical Constituents:
Citronellol 18-22%, geraniol & nerol 10-15%, stearopten 8%, phenyl ethanol 63%, farnesol 0.2 – 2% plus many other trace elements. Very complex with over 300 different chemical constituents.
