Basic Perfume Recipe

This is one of the

simplest recipes for perfume making

you can do at home.

In a bowl place a cheesecloth where the edges are hanging over the bowl. Fill with 1 cup of flower blossoms of your choice. Pour water over the flowers until they are completely covered. Cover and let sit overnight.

The next day using the edges of cheesecloth pull it out of the bowl and gently squeeze the scented water into a small pot. Simmer the water until about 1 teaspoon is left. Cool and place into a small bottle. Making perfume this way has a shelf life of about 1 month.

Some suggestions for flowers:

Lavender, Lilac, Orange Blossoms or even Honeysuckle. Anything that is highly fragrant works best.

How to Make Orange Scented Water

This is a formula for creating a mini-spa at home, using natural ingredients that promote relaxation.

Combine distilled water and vodka in a jar with a tight-fitting lid (the vodka acts as a fixative to hold the scent). Add orange essential oil and stir, then add dried orange peel. Set the mixture aside, with the lid on tightly, for four weeks. Using a strainer, decant, and funnel into decorative bottles. Add more dried orange slivers, if desired.

You can make lemon water, rosewater, etc., using this same process. Add scented water to your bath to add fragrance without oil, or use as a light cologne.

Romantic Encounters Blend

A super-sexy scent for lovers who crave communion as well as release, this aromatic blend is renowned for facilitating both union and reunion after times of separation or sadness.

Indian Summer Perfume

The sunny mood of a quiet day is captured in this sensuous blend of flowers, wood and spices. Add the oils to 1/8 of an ounce of Jojoba oil for an oil-based perfume; add oils to 1/2 ounce of ethyl alcohol for a lighter alcohol-based fragrance. Shake well each time before using to disperse oils.

Please remember to dilute properly if wearing on the skin (as opposed to using aromatherapy jewelry.)

Refreshing Summer Cologne Blend

Just because artificial fragrances can be harmful to our health doesn’t mean we can’t still smell delicious without them. This cologne formula is light and very refreshing — just the thing for warm summer days — and it uses all-natural ingredients. Not only that, some of them are thought to be cheering, Concentration-enhancing, and relaxing!

Some of us like to keep this delightfully fresh cologne in the fridge for a cooling, uplifting spritz when we need one.

Essential Oil Blend

Combine ingredients thoroughly. Pour into a glass jar with a screw lid, and allow to sit for 3 to 6 weeks. Decant finished cologne into a spritz bottle or a blue or amber glass bottle.

Peace Cologne

(Combats fatigue due to stress, tension and anxiety)

Pour the alcohol into a bottle or jar. Add the oils and shake well. Leave for one week. Don’t forget to try and make your own scents as well, after all you’re unique…shouldn’t your cologne be too? And don’t forget to give it a name…maybe something that sounds like your personality…so if you’re a strong type then “Un Soldier” or “Journey”, you get the point.

Heaven Scent Jasmine Perfume

By Annie B. Bond, Author of Better Basics for the Home (Three Rivers Press, 1999).

http://www.care2.com/

The smell of Jasmine transports me to moonlit summer nights with the soft, sensual scent of Jasmine wafting through the night air. It is no surprise, given that in India Jasmine is called “queen of the night,” because the scent is stronger after sunset.

The scent is known to be comforting, calming, and certainly sensual, and I also always associate it with romance.

(Read the

full essential oil profile for jasmine

)

Try this homemade Jasmine perfume formula to open the doors of romance, to calm, and uplift the mind. Known as a Fertility oil, it is healing for sexuality and even known to ease the trauma of giving birth.

Cupid was known to tip his arrows with Jasmine blossoms, to help inspire love and desire! Jasmine oil is also antidepressive, being mildly euphoric. Make sure you buy a pure jasmine oil that is produced through the purest process, without the use of solvents.

“Absolute” oils are those that derive the oil through solvent extraction rather than stream distillation. The purest jasmine oil of all is derived from the old-fashioned enfleurage process using oil extraction, traditionally made of animal fat.

To make a perfume add a few drops of pure jasmine oil to 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil, such as Avocado or sweet Almond. Stir to blend, and dab on your body.
